Several people have pointed to this CBC multimedia report on counterfeiting, that includes the dubious claim that 40% of pirated DVDs originate in Canada (double what the CMPDA told a House of Commons committee).

I complained to the CBC ombudsman about this. Strangely enough, the flash page doesn’t have a Feedback link like their regular news articles do. The ombudsman replied promptly and cc’d my email some folks in the CBC online division.

It does raise a question since the claim comes from a member of the CMPDA… why didn’t they give that figure to the government? What are they hiding?
